We left Daytona Beach 5a.m. Thursday and drove into spring weather and blossoms all day. Very odd sensation to know it's March but see that the route is covered in green, pink, and purple instead of white and gray. I kept thinking that we had missed cherry blossoms, daffodils, and all the migrating birds back home. It's the most exuberant season of all, not to be missed in 4-season Ontario.
I shouldn't have worried. The sun that had glared through
the windshield all day was blanked out by high dark clouds and occasional
showers by Michigan on Friday morning. There were still signs of spring such as
crab apple blossoms, robins, golfers, and farmers shooting the (pig)shit in
their fields. Thankfully we arrived in daylight and could drive up the usually
snowbound hill. But there was thin ice on the pond and it was below freezing
overnight. Thanks Mr. Winter, nice to see you again. Now get lost.
We're home safely, thanks everybody, and all is well except
the hot water tank isn't working. Not too late for a polar bear dip?
