Went to the historic Ponce Inlet Lighthouse yesterday, mostly for a ride in the beautiful weather. Then this morning had to get up and out early to choose from 5 big events, all today. (The beach clock has still not been sprung forward for DST ---- can anyone out there climb up to adjust it?) Seems Spring Break is at the peak and there are many ways to amuse yourself. Here's the choice:
#1. See Big Time Golf? The Arnold Palmer Invitational is
being played just down the road. Sorry golfers, not that interested. Although
some hacker named Tiger Woods is doing alright so far.
#2. Indoor Custom Car Show? Big $$ admission and vehicles
that are seen on the local roads anyway. I can tell you that the big trend is
to 26" or 28" wheels ----- even saw them on motorcycles last week. Is
my manhood threatened because I'm only running 15" ?? Does size matter?
#3. Black College Reunion? Hmmmm. Sorry but I don't
qualify. You couldn't escape this anyway
---- the hiphop was blaring out of 10,000 watt car speakers. Also, lots of
28" in the parking lot (see #2 above).
#4. The National Dance and Cheer Championships (aka Reach The Beach)? Mostly girls,
ages 4 to 15, groups or solo, 3-minute routines. A lot of energy and cuteness
in the broiling sun. OK to watch for a while, but overwhelmed by stage moms and
screaming classmates.
None of these held our interest very long. So by 11 am we
had packed the cooler and headed out to Choice #5. Go to your inbox and open
HOT AIR......SHOW.
