25 Nov. 2011: BRANDY 1995-2011

BRANDY, calico cat. Born derelict and abandoned by stray mother in Burlington Ontario (June?) 1995. Rescued with 7 siblings by vet technician in Scarboro. Adopted by Pat in August 1995, along with same-litter sister Crystal (predeceased December 2009). Died peacefully and with dignity in her 17th year in Owen Sound Ontario November 24, 2011. To be interred next to Crystal at home in Kemble.

We heard from home that Brandy had died yesterday and were plunged into sadness. Funny how you get attached to animals.I met Brandy the first time I visited Pat in her country home in King City, December 1995. She was a ball of multicoloured fluff, bouncing around with wide curious eyes and leaping over her befuddled sister Crystal. So my 16 years with Pat have also been 16 years with Brandy. She went from kitten to independent roamer to house cat to bigtime traveler and in the end, warm and cuddly bed buddy.

Brandy traveled with us back and forth to Toronto from Durham and Kemble. She drove with us through the States to Cancun, Mexico. She flew with us to the Olympics in Vancouver. She flew with us to Isla Mujeres, eventually learning to whine or meow in perfect Spanish. Earlier this year she drove with us in Florida, Top Down Princess in the back seat! In that way she was a trouper and gained everyone's respect and even envy of her adventures. She was one of the 2 cats in my life and there won't be another.

Also to be sadly missed by her godparents/caregivers Kim, Wally,  Alaia, and Dianne. Rest in Peace, Brandy, you were loved.
