Pick Your Party, Most are Red All Over!

Vancouver weather keeps setting historical records for warmth and lack of snow. My driving experience keeps setting records for movie-worthy encounters. Last night we attended xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx. The secrecy continues...

February brings Black History Month, and a Presidents' Day weekend in the U.S. But this weekend is a perfect storm of 5 giant events for the world-event-junkie. The Olympics start on Friday with the first indoor Opening Ceremonies in Winter Games history. People on the street outside the stadium will be startled by the red-and-white fireworks. Saturday is swept up by the Chinese New Year celebrations in huge parts of the world. Red is the colour of luck! Sunday is Valentine's Day --- symbolized by your romantic red heart. And Sunday is also the running of the Daytona 500 in the land of the red white and blue. Sunday is also the climax of the samba parades at Carnaval in Rio. (Of course there are Carnavals all over the Catholic world, including New Orleans and the ice carnaval in Quebec City).
So pick your party and think red!

(P.S. If you have those hard-to-find RED Olympic mittens, it's a good time to wave them. Even the guards of the Lions' Gate Bridge are wearing them for the Games...)
