From the Bottom Up

We were told not to drive on the new concrete for 7 days. That would be this afternoon at 2:30pm. (Conscientiously, we've been walking up and down the 275-foot hill all week.) In the meantime the bottom of the driveway was a stewpile of leftover gravel, wet clay. round rocks, roots, and forming nails. So we've been trying to clear all the debris for the grand opening of our Canadian version of the Pike's Peak hill climb. Pat made a rock shoulder and I raked the gravel to one side so the other cars could get out of the barn.
But at 2:30 pm (who's counting?) the ceremony began. The Start Line was leftover propane line tape, and the scissors to cut it was the grille of the van. For now, the lane is marked by red flags and reflectors. And the Finish Line is right in front of the garden, so the trophy was ---- a tomato?!?! Bottom's up.
