Dig This!

Things seem to happen all at once. We have visitors from Michigan, at the same time as we wanted to go camping, at the same time as the big local Summerfolk Festival, at the same time as the driveway concrete job 3 years in the waiting might finally happen. Then a phone call saying the job is on for Thursday! Yippee, we have 2 days to do the prep. Cancel the camping :(.
Then a mini-backhoe shows up at the bottom of the hill. Then a dump truck and maxi-hoe drive up, a complete surprise. Then Ron the concrete guy shows up with crew and gear. Turns out the Thursday job is starting today --- Tuesday! Oh, and did I mention the all-important propane line(500 feet, yellow) and conduit (510 feet, black) had to be picked up in the new van and prepped today too? The next 6 hours became a frenzy of dust, noise, and broken old concrete trucked away, in 25C heat.
Our vehicles were trapped at the top of the hill and had to bounce and veer around and down the obstacle course formerly known as a driveway! The good news is that our friend Jim had experience in all this work and solved the ancient mystery of putting the Yellow Snake In The Black Snake In the Trench. Look it up. And tomorrow they say they're pouring the concrete!
