Took a drive on this holiday weekend over to Kincardine for the A-B-C Show, as in Aero-Bike-Car. Gathered on the tarmac of the local airstrip were vintage military aircraft, historic motorcycles, and classic cars. That's a trifecta that would attract a big crowd on a sunny day!
The AERO section included Canadian, U.S., British, German, and French planes that flew or trained in combat from WWI to the '60's. Best-In-Show was the Canadian Flying Boat and/or the German triple-wing with twin machine guns.
The BIKE section featured a couple of old Indians, and I mean the 2-wheel kind. We got to know these beauties back in March at Bike Week in Daytona Beach.
The CAR section always includes vehicles you rarely see, like a red 1962 Mercedes 190 convertible. Or a stately 1912 Pierce-Arrow with 26" wheels so it wouldn't get stuuck in the horse cart ruts! A 64 1/2 Mustang attracted former owners who pointed out the correct mirror, red seat belts, and cardboard glove box liner.
Spectators could get up close and personal with the A-B-C's. But in the next field north the local radio-controlled aircraft club were doing barrel rolls. In the next field south the farmers were harvesting grain. Take your pick, wings or wheels.
