Boat Show

Different watercraft parade past this place all year of course, but August seems to be the busiest month of the year out on Owen Sound Bay. The Manitoulin ferry goes out in April and returns for winter in October. The great lakes freighters come in, and go out the next day, once a month. But the summer season bring sails, paddles, inboards, outboards, barges, tugboats, Coast Guard cutters, jetskis (no relation to Wyszyn Skis), native fishing scows, and ordinary local fishermen.
Coincidentally, this is the 50th anniversary of Miss Supertest, the Canadian unlimited hydroplane that was the World's Fastest Boat in her day. I remember standing on the Windsor side of the Detroit River, watching the huge spray of the "roostertails" and listening to the thunder in the turns. Canada Post has issued a stamp in her honour, and the fast boats out there continue my personal Boat Show.
