We have known Gladys Galdamez for years on Isla --- she has many contacts for apartments and had shown us her latest, "La Caribella" on our last visit 2 years ago. The arrangements were made on the internet but she greeted us as old friends and noted we are the first renters in her building this season. There are 6 smaller units but we have the entire second floor ---- is that a penthouse??
522 square feet for $250 a week. Two bedrooms, each with a balcony and ceiling fan (that means Brandy has her own room). Kitchen with new fridge, microwave, and bottled-gas stove. Bathroom with spacious shower. All floors tiled as usual in a tropical climate. Colourful bedding, wifi, and a TV in the sitting area. Fun to watch music videos or soap operas or National Geographic in Spanish! Oddly, the German-language channel shows an hour of world news in English each morning at 5am. I'm an information junkie but I get my fix from the internet.
The island is 5 miles long but at the most a half-mile wide. We are at the absolute narrowest point, about 100 yards wide so we can see the sea (La Caribella = "beautiful Caribbean, get it?!) out the front or back windows. Sunrises, sunsets, all-day breezes make it a pretty cool spot!
GREAT looking rental. Bob and I get dibs on it next year!! (LOL)
