It was a year ago now, on the Pacific coast, that we witnessed a Mexican couple put on their wedding clothes and take their own pictures. We even offered to take some so they would be in the same frame together! Yesterday at sunset here we were on the Caribbean coast and another wedding took place.
Mexican hotels have really promoted the Get-Married-In-Tropical-Paradise-For-Cheap industry. It's a good deal; if you book rooms for at least 12 in your wedding party, you get the ceremony, reception, and flowers at no extra charge. And everybody gets to holiday a week while the honeymooners are down the hall.
It's nice to see the non-traditional rituals happening next to sunbathers and fishermen. Even the mating iguanas seem to be interested!
