WINDY RAIN TO GOLDEN SUN

Walking the docks the other day we noticed a big double-masted rusty hulk from Bremen, Germany. Almost went aboard despite the ghost vibe of this Pirate of the Caribbean when something happened for the first time in 2 months ----- it rained on us!! Still warm and muggy, but the wetness was definitely unusual. Now, it has been blustery and showery for the last 3 days. Between cloudbursts there have been heron-like wading birds in the marshes. And local kids playing baseball or futbal, oblivious to the mud and wethead.

But it's the first of the month so we have moved to the second part of our rental, the Sol Dorado (Golden Sun). Same $35 a night but 600 sq. ft. smack in the middle of centro (downtown). We're above a dive shop, and within a block are the grocery, laundry, town square, convenience store, and a row of Mexican restaurants. Feels great to be back in the action, within walking distance of the docks and beaches. What's unique about the apartment is the thick greenery in the back courtyard. Isolated and quiet like a desert island --- except for the Jewish-Italian-Mexican pizzeria out front next door!
