Olympic-Level Climate Change = No Snow!

The west coast of Canada has always enjoyed mild weather before the rest of the country. But this winter has been the mildest in 80 years, with temperatures lately of 10 to 15C, when normal is 3 to 8C. We have had a foot of rain in the last week, and severe windstorms have closed bridges and cancelled ferry service. Hundreds of Olympic banners on utility poles were torn away. Locals say this is like their March, and I say this is like Ontario's April.
The flipside is that when the sun is out, so are Vancouverites. Shorts are worn, convertible tops are down, kids play on the beach sands, and hummingbirds flitter in all directions.
But other signs of too-early spring are surging daffodil bulb sprouts, buds on azalea bushes, and totally green lawns and bushes. Gardeners are enthused, but the city has absolutely no winter atmosphere for the Games that start in 24 days. The promise was to have a "Green Games" but I don't think this is what they meant!
