No More Snow In Summer

TV reception in this house has been over-the-air with rabbit ears. Cable service is not available at all on this sideroad, and we just don't watch enough TV to justify a satellite service. We get all the regional Canadian networks and their subsidiaries ---- 5 English channels, 2 in French. Reception has ranged from very clear to so snowy you can't tell if that's Brad Pitt or Shrek on the screen! We lived with it.
But today in Canada all over-the-air broadcasting has switched to digital. (The U.S. switched 3 years ago and offered incentives so everybody could keep up --- not here. Long delay, no incentives.) So first we looked into antennas last spring. The old style 30 foot tower with spindly feathery antenna was $500 and would be an eyesore. Instead, we found a hi-tech digital-ready built-in rotator compact antenna online from Texas, $69 ($67 Canadian!) with free shipping. Then we borrowed a newer TV to see the difference in reception. And now that the official change has taken place, our 5 old TV sets will be put into recycled e-waste. We're now watching a really clear picture on the borrowed set but their are really good sales for procrastinators like us. Hello Sam Sung, goodbye snow in summer.
