WHAT'S IN SIGHT?

There's no end of unusual sights here, day and night. Vessels range from a shipload of sailors arriving for shore leave to a siphonload of gas for the SeaDoo. The other night we went to the grandly named "Boutique Theater" (anonymous building in dim picture) to see a performance of Auntie Mame. Probably the worst play I have seen since Hair in high school. Overly ambitious with 22 actors, 19 scenes, and 34 costumes for Mame. Missed lines, bad timing, no voice projection even to the cozy 80 seats.

Much better was the free outdoor folk dancing. Swirls of colour, energetic dancers, happy crowd. Then the nightly walk along the malecon to see fire-swingers, the passing pirate ship, and a surprisingly toe-tapping teenage Fab Four on the overpass. Mexican versions of '60's surfing tunes and even the theme from the TV "Batman" --- remember?? Of course there's always goodies set up to tempt you, from fresh fruit to tantalizing tacos to come-and-get-me cakes. And if size matters, we see everything from 2-inch hummingbirds to 2-tonne whales passing by.
