A DOG'S BREAKFAST

It's been a few days since the last post but there's only daily life to report. The bougainvillea on our balcony attracts butterflies that look like our swallowtails back home but can you see differences? A new bridge has opened, shortening the climb to the house made famous by the Richard Burton-Elizabeth Taylor scandal of decades ago. We watched the Obama inauguration with renewed hope and a love of great speech-making.

Mariachi bands roam the beach, serenading willing diners. Pat mailed a letter of condolence ---- when was the last time you licked a stamp? Then we bought our on-sale-every-Wednesday  (miercoles)  bbq chicken (pechugon) for $6.25 (75 pesos). Yummy.

Saw Life of Pi in 3D at a local plaza cinema. I haven't seen a 3D movie in a long time ---- remember when the glasses were red-and-green? Really magical movie, the special effects fascinated instead of overwhelmed. Rated 4 tacos out of 4. Girl bands shatter the town square with thunder-drums. Outdoor Zumba is all the rage, especially when the instructor has purple hair. And a sign of the growing Mexican middle class is the huge number of pet dogs walked proudly everywhere. Favourite breed?? Duh ---- Mexican chihuahuas!
