FEELS LIKE THE CHICAGO FIRE

The raccoons and birds will wonder where the daily handout is. But it's time for another road trip so we left this morning, starting with a 10-hour drive to Chicago. I haven't been in The Windy City since a group trip back in university days ---- the big draw then was the scandalous Playboy Club! But lately friends, relatives, and even our neighbour have been raving about how much there is to do and see, so we'll see.

The interstate highways are fast and the gas is cheap (Ontario = $1.23/litre, Michigan equivalent about 75 cents!) The famous skyline loomed over the 12 lanes of wild west expressways. And my GPS (Great Pat System)  got us to our  Inn On Lincoln Park  without a wrong turn. Lincoln Park is an historic part of Chicago, 10 blocks from the lake, that has been faithfully renewed to classic buildings and a good mixed street vibe. The lobby is art deco, the $62  online room small but comfy. All good til you step outside of the air con and notice --- it's 106 degrees! The air feels like dry fire, and it's supposed to be 110 tomorrow. Point me at Lake Michigan!!
