Fog Dogs The Blog

We've had heavy fog the last couple of mornings, mixed with some rain today. We still take long walks and find back lanes with an amazing mix of old and new homes. Some look like the faux-hippy wood shacks on Toronto Islands. Some look like nouveau Italian villas with curled concrete columns and copies of Michelangelo's David.

But the glum weather puts a real (pun alert!) damper on the day. So not much new today. We were so stumped, we thought of having our Super Bowl party tonight so we could actually watch the game tomorrow, for the first time ever! (Last year we were working at the Olympics, the year before was no TV in Punta Sam, other years this and that.)

So we wound up going to a nearby heritage movie house, built in 1940 at the peak of film-going before the war and TV. It looked like the Fox in our old Toronto neighbourhood, or maybe a survivor near you showing second-run features. "The King's Speech" was excellent, a history lesson wrapped in a story of triumph and friendship. My pick for Best Picture.
