February=John's Pass

An easy drive across Florida yesterday and we arrived at our "cottage" at John's Pass, near Madeira Beach. We liked it right away because the building dates from 1946 and the neighbourhood was/is a fishing village. The decor is a lot like old Ontario cottages with pineboard walls, drop drywall ceiling and comfie chairs. The cliche "we treat you like family" applies here as the neighbours offered showers and drinks while we waited. The second-generation owners are a city commissioner and a leader in the local Church By The Sea, so we've had insider local stories and a sincere warm welcome.

The only flaw has been a weak internet signal, so this is being sent from "Addicted to the Bean" coffee shop, one block away. And as you see, we are only about 50 steps from the dolphin channel and 2 blocks from the ocean sunsets. Amazing location, and probably why at $1400 this is our most expensive accommodation of the 3 months. Looks very very good so far.

We're a bit sheepish about being here because we know about the big storms and cold hitting the north. We hope Wiarton Willie's prediction of early spring comes true!
