MARCH COMES IN LIKE A ... DOG??

The week started with a fun run fundraiser for guide-dogs. Sunny in the open but still snow-covered and needing a guide-person on the trail.

So everybody gets a BigLift when the sun shines, but there's still ice and cold in the shady spots. If you look waaaay up, the ski hills are still white but it's greenish all around.

Spring warmth still hasn't arrived but blue skies bring big views of ships at anchor or the city at work.

Area beauty spots emerge like sun-kissed Sleeping Beauty. Iconic ferries come-and-go at Horseshoe Bay. Container ships lie at anchor in English Bay. (What's in all those bins from Asia??) Crowds revel on the boards at Granville Island. But the buskers compete with the sounds of a still-working cement plant decorated right next door. How many millions of pixels have been used up with selfies of the skyline?

Today is the lead-up to Mardi Gras and pancakes on Tuesday. Signs of spring: a robin with his buds. And the Sun has a date with the Run...
