KEMBLE CLAUS

Our nearby village of Kemble shows way more community spirit than size. For 11 years it has had the Non-Motorized Christmas Parade which draws 10 times its population. Kids show up from all over the county for a closeup look at strange adults, big horses, and that jolly guy in the red suit (no, not the Mountie from Canada Day!).

It was a brutally cold windy day so thankfully the parade strolled by quickly. Still, the batons were twirling, the dogs were dressed for Sunday, and our neighbour Darryl (yellow jacket) showed up with Jill and Atley. And what horse-wagon procession would be the same without fresh horse-plop (left for Mrs. Claus' garden?).

We added to the pile of food-bank donations, had a dog and chocolate (both hot), and eventually went home  from the arena smiling about small-town Santa, coming to your town soon.  Ho Ho Ho.
