HULA HOOP AND MYSTERY FISH

Winter seemed to be waiting for the night the clocks were turned back. (Why is it always a surprise when we wake up to the first snow?) The shrubs groaned under the wet white weight.  The squirrels and birds had to dig deeper to find feed, like finding tiny black dots under a huge white blanket. Fortunately, my rehab exercise can be done on the treadmill downstairs ---- walking in a winter wonderland??

We were caught with a few chores still to be done. Sadly, I had to put the ragtop away til ______? The pump had to come out of the pond before it ices over, but not before we skimmed off about two inches of too much water from the recent rains. (Any guesses what the hula hoop does on the pond??) The smaller pond (called the "P-P" for "Practice Pond"!) also was bailed empty.

But the strangest thing: we have NEVER put fish in that little pond but there they were, 3 very alive fish. Two of the squatters were like the swimmers in the big pond: a goldfish and a koi, about an inch long. But the third, much bigger and dark and with different fins, is a total mystery. How did the fish get there in the first place? What kind is the alien? Best theory gets the fish named after you!!

  2. The hoola hoop is to keep the plants left in the pond together?????? To keep the pond from freezing???? The frog who lives in the little pond went to visit the big pond and gulped down some fish eggs. He returned to his home and did his duty releasing the eggs. He has been very lonely living by himself and now he has some friends to hang out with.
