But this morning it was out to the Dali Museum down Beach Road at 6:30. No, not to see the famous melting clocks but the Lady Shick Women's Half Marathon. Always inspiring to see people of all ages over-achieving. Thousands of runners (men and kids too!) taking over the streets to conquer the beginners' 5km or the full 13.1 mile half-marathon. Too bad the 5k runners finished first --- they got the first burst of cheers and the cookie/banana table. A nice touch was members of the U.S. Army awarding the medals. And as I said, we were both inspired to see all the ages and sizes run, shuffle, or walk. Lots of support from families and friends.
So inspired that we took a long walk to Crescent Lake where 15 kinds of waterfowl mingle with the lucky neighbours. By the end of our loop we had walked 4.3 miles today! Not bad for my "day off". Pat says next year we will do the 13.1 number instead of the 4.3. OK, but can I read the funnies first??
