Just a short update on the week so far. We hope to drive around among the fall leaves at their peak tomorrow, and then be very grateful for everything on Sunday, our Thanksgiving Day...
My recovery is coming along really quickly. 7 weeks since bypass surgery. But Monday brought a complication with sharp continuous pain in the left jaw and neck. Another sleepless night, another trip to the ER. Preliminary diagnosis was a form of angina. Had all the usual blood work but there were also so many electrodes monitoring me I looked like a human sticker book. Ultimately I had to rip them off myself, yowling in hair-loss pain every time! Next day we had to drive an hour down to Markdale for an echo-cardiogram, getting ultrasound images to check my heart area. Some anxiousness til that evening when the doc concluded no angina. The pain had been caused by a thickening of the protective layer around the heart. Simple treatment with ibuprofen and the pain went away. Today, I'm feeling like nothing ever happened --- dodged a bullet??
Otherwise, life goes on. Pat's brother-in-law still in hospital but showing some improvement in a very serious illness. We have caved and our place now has its first dryer ---- clothes don't seem to dry on the line in 8C! Hordes of migrating birds stop at our fly-through window. Falling leaves coat the yard like sprinkles on a chocolate cake. The last strawberries meet the first fall mums. Life is good.
