The sun is 3 weeks into its way back north and the week started pretty mild, with no ice on the harbour. But isn't that snow on the boats?
Walk while you can! We looked for wildlife in the ravines. We were amused by another sign that dogs have taken over. And we were surprised that the pop-up ice rink was being taken down --- it's not that mild!
So sure enough the temps plunged and ice started to form on the quay. Smaller ice pans become larger ice sheets. Gulls can land and walk on them, so light they won't break through.
Then by mid-day off-shore winds pushed the ice together into a crystal fence. The water taxi became an ice-breaker.
Today is turning brutally cold again. Ice will re-form overnight. It's a mirror image of the ice sequence, like you-know-who out on the streets again. No ice with that, please...
