FOXTROT

Still getting back to routines after a month away. Lushy lawn, greener gardens, taller trees. Red sun in the morning, sailors take warning?  Smoke from wildfires in the north settled in here, 300 miles south. But mostly it's been a rainy welcome back week ---- wish we could send some rain west!!

So, lots of indoor diversion. Tarts from freshly picked berries just outside the window. Chocolate "bark" studded with cherries and pecans! (No photos, but The Guy is doing maintenance on the water system and various motors --- gas and electric...)

First daytrip to Toronto in months. Usual nostalgia (and Chinese) in the old Beach 'hood but more time spent in the buzz of  harbourfront area. Art installations include a "reconciliation canoe" and a "portal of refuge".

Something new to see every day. First blossoms of a Gray-headed Coneflower. But, rewardingly, the miracle of caterpillars munching on milkweed before becoming iconic monarch butterflies off on a 5,000 km journey to Mexico (awe and envy at that!!). So precarious and at risk that they get a protective tent...

Two young foxes pass by the window almost every dawn and dusk. Sometimes slow as a walk, sometimes fast as a ---- foxtrot!
