SUPER SUNDAY XXIII (NOT that other one...)

It was brutally cold up north all week but that polar vortex reached all the way down here with cold and rain and wind. No cars on the famous car beach!

But it's spring here with tree pruning in all the neighbourhoods. And birds doing their migratory and/or mating thing.

A return drive up to historic St. Augustine --- something old, something new. The familiar was the loads of history from Ponce de Leon's Fountain of Youth to Spanish colonial times to rammed-earth forts. But the new was the revelation of Flagler College. Fantastically ornate. Originally a Euro-lavish hotel for wealthy northerners in the late 1800's. Now an elite school where the students' private dining room has the biggest stained glass collection in the country.

One day of top-down warm sun, so motor south to Ponce Inlet (same Ponce de Leon, as in claimant of Fountain of Youth in St. Augustine). Tallest lighthouse in Florida, great fishing in the estuary --- just ask the pelicans. But the nearby botanical garden was closed!

Daily beach walks even in the chilly sea breezes. Huge sandpiles around construction --- where do they put it? And lots of two-legged sand strollers --- some with jacket, some with wings.

So cloudy we even went to an RV show for something to do. OMG --- we see these monsters on the road but the interiors are outrageous. Fireplaces, multiple giant TV's, soft leather everywhere, slide-out patios, swing-out outdoor kitchen, etc., etc. All for only a third or quarter of a million! P lounged in an escape room. R found the smallest unit available...still too much, in many ways.

It was Groundhog Day yesterday and like Wiarton Willie, we didn't see a shadow. Maybe it's safe to go home??

Today is Super Sunday, but not because of a football game. For those of you counting, it's First Date Plus XXIII...
