O CANADA!

The first week of summer included a full moon but also morning fog. We're in the middle of record-breaking heat (it's more evidence of climate change, wake up out there...). So the bird pond gets love from the dove.

There are a lot of seasonal sights and rituals. A new batch of frog eggs in the pond. The famous pushed-freighter glides by, grinning with a load of grain. Lily is welcomed back by The Gardener. With regret, the sparkling Eos is sold to a local real estate agent ----she wanted an upgrade to her image!

But the big job this week was chipping up all the trees and limbs brought down lately. Every wagon was full --- even an antique Little Red. The 40 hp vicious chipper got a real work out, and so did the crew. A hot muggy morning of dragging, feeding, cutting, and sweating. What a steaming pile --- chips and people!

Feeling lucky, so we dragged the chipper up the hill to chip away up here too. Amazing what those blades will hack up. But it also jammed until we opened the hood and cleared the overflow. You learn something every day...

Did I mention it's hot? The humidex of 49C translates to 118 Farenheit! But today is Canada Day and we are forever grateful to be in the best country on earth. The chaos, cruelty, ignorance, and divisiveness south of our border reminds us how proud we are of this nation. Yes we have big problems, and Ontario just elected a trump-lite. But we'll take this, coast to coast to coast, over anywhere else. So this morning we toasted Tim, splashed Willy, walked Bruce, and marveled at the truly Great lakes. Oh Canada, the maple leaf forever...
