OK, the info embargo is over. Pat had flown back to Ontario to help out the closing (after 55 years!) of her brother-in-law/sister's Vincent Jewelers. It was/is a huge event, with locals lining up to get bargains and pay their respects to these pillars of the community. Many family members helped out --- can you spot The Shopgirl behind the counter?
But she's back in Vancouver now, at out rented condo at Coal Harbour. It suits us just fine with equipped kitchen for the Cook and underground parking for the Driver. Great wifi for this blog but remember we're 3 hours behind our home time zone.
Long daily walks in the morning are back. Beautiful shore, mountain, and harbour scenes. Sea, sky, and land are buzzing with activity --- truly an outdoor place. But watch out for the weather: one moment is sunny, the next foggy, the next showers.
Also along the harbour is some nostalgia. It's where we worked at the 2010 Winter Olympics. The green roof has grown in and my former "office" is now a conference room. And still a lot of Canada 150 activity ---- getting people to exercise in 150 different ways, for example. Even the iconic float planes are wrapped in the flag!
Pat just HAD to go to the exhibit of 40 works by one of her fave artists --- Claude Monet. The lineups were so long on her first try she had to leave. The trick was to be in line at opening the next morning, but still crowded. (I only know his famous paintings of ponds and water lilies, but I think our pond at home is even more serene, more artistic...)
The Invictus Games closed in Toronto and even on TV it was inspiring and bound to be even more inclusive in the future. What a ceremony --- the athletes were saluted by Bryan Adams, The Boss, and Harry!
Remember that Monet magnetism? As luck and The Angels would have it, the banners were being taken down right outside our window as we were sitting with morning coffee! I hailed the guy, Pat flew downstairs in her jammies, and voila! What a girl will do for a little Monet!!
