SOUTH BUT STILL NORTH: HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

We finally got our belated Christmas visit to Michigan. Always fun and interesting to catch up with mommies, PieLady, youngers and olders. Thanks J&S for the pizza party!

This year's heavy snowfall was still happening up the hill so it was time to shut down the house and head south. Three trips down-and-up with gear and groceries leaves you breathless in more ways than one. Draining and closing up the house is a ritual but this time I forgot to shut off the electricity so had to do the up-and-down snowhill trip #4! Then a nervous drive on icy roads. The plows couldn't keep up. But this Mennonite horse buggy had some must-do travel!

Surprise, even for us! We aren't very far south --- only to an Air BnB in Toronto for January. Great location at the harbourfront, 9th floor. More on the building later, we just wanted to unpack, settle in, and wait til dark.

No snow in the city, just some early rain then strong winds. Bundle up! Some crowds going to the hockey game, some going to parties, most going to the square for Canada's biggest free NYE celebration. Hundreds on skates, 50,000 on foot jumping and shouting for the bands. Big rising star headliner was "Walk On the Earth" --- worth checking out on YouTube.

Jostled in the mob til the countdown clock, a quick kiss, and ka-boom go the fireworks. Short but awesome scene lighting up city hall. Happy New Year everybody ---- get healthy and happy!
