We've settled in to the Winter-In-Toronto experiment and so far, pretty good. The temperature has been up and down ---- it's cold enough to skate but the lake is still ice-free. This building is between the CN Tower and the Harbourfront, with the new streetcars passing by the door. Can you pick out the girl with the headband waving?
The idea is to do all the downtown things, especially "cultural". For example, a walk to the movies every Cheap Tuesday. Notice the marquee --- "Sing" in the rain, just "Sing" in the rain...". (Get that, old movie fans?) But the entire run of the hit play "Come From Away" was sold out and the lineup for standing room sold out too.
The condo has excellent amenities such as the workout room and lap pool. Daily swimming, hot tub soak, treadmill, killer elliptical, and weights. Is that better than snowshoeing and ice fishing?
Lots of outside walks despite the brutal cold wind in the face. We see the Porter planes landing from the condo, so it's an easy 30-minute walk to the new and free Island Airport tunnel. Down the elevator, 850 feet under the lake on a moving sidewalk, then up two steep escalators and voila, a calm airport lounge with a view. Definitely recommendable over the chaotic big Toronto Pearson Airport.
Back inside, a comfy couch, mixed decor and quiet bedroom. A useful humidifier for the dry air. Poor TV reception but good internet for blogging --- how else would you be reading this?!
