IT'S ALL RELATIVE, THANKFULLY

It's Canadian Thanksgiving weekend with the sun going south and the nighttime temperatures falling like ripe pears...

It's always energizing to go to Toronto, this time for some business and some unexpected pleasure. The property is being painted inside and out so a chance to see it before and after. Great to catch up with the neighbours and be reminded of how village-y the Beach is.

On the fun side, the BlueJays are in the postseason games. If you can't get a ticket to go inside, you can watch with the thousands at the outdoor Bird Nest! But more relative was a coincidental visit with American cousin Karen, impressed with the neighbourhood but non-stop updating us on all her family news.

Back at home, another stop-gap to the leaky chimney area; the pro roofers are too busy to come out for this little job. But it's all relative again as we breakfasted with more American cousins. Oh, and we compared a new Jeep with an old Z!

Always something to see out the front window. This time it's a search and rescue of a disabled sailboat adrift in the bay. The C130 circled a dozen times until the Coast Guard cutter arrived. Pretty close, pretty loud, pretty cool to see. Then the sail was towed to the town dock where we saw it later in the day. Is the name on the sailboat ironic, or just bad Timing?

Lots of scenic drives going by, looking at the fall colors. This Pie Lady (not to be confused with another relative!) is baking in the spirit of the day. We'll be with some nearby Canadian relatives later today for a traditional get-together. And we're thinking of relatives in West Grey, Windsor, NYC, Vancouver, and elsewhere past and present. Happy Thanksgiving everybody, and relatively speaking we are all blessed.
