BRUNO, ARNOLD, AND SHIRLEY

Some travel --- near and far ---this week. In Toronto, heavy rains caused flooding and emergencies but luckily not on our street. We both got pedicures --- I had won them in one of our games (but what colour are my toes --- Pat's are "Hong Kong Sunrise" ?) Back at The View pond, the floating plants are doing so well their long-haired roots had to be cut back.

Oops I did it again! After 3 months without a Mustang convertible, blue ones and red ones started leaping out from my in-box. The only one in Canada with the best colour combo was near Montreal. Eh bien! Thursday morning we took a 6am Megabus express and then a commuter train to St. Bruno-de-Montarville Quebec. I had been negotiating (half in French!) with Yoan online for a few days and voila! This 2008 is in absolute pristine condition with only 56,000km. We drove home the same day, lucky to avoid any police stops because we only had a temporary sticker from Quebec. As always, the car gets a name ----- how do you like Bruno?!

All that fun was tempered by week's end with the memorial service for Pat's aunt Shirley and uncle Arnold who both passed away last year. As before, the family honoured  Pat by asking her to give the eulogy which alternately brought tears, laughs, and sweet memories to this quiet cemetery at Oliphant, near Lake Huron. At the reception afterwards, a photo of the 1956 wedding party was displayed. The ring bearer, bridesmaid, and two flower girls posed for a reunion --- 3-year-old Pat was one of the flower girls; can you spot her?
