THERAPY CAR? THANKS MOM!!

So many major events this week ---- how to rank them? Another woman in the family achieving a major milestone. Fond memories of Mexico for Cinco de Mayo. Ravenous squirrels gobbling on the ground but also eating right through a plastic feeder! Ravenous people inside also gobbling bark ---- chocolate bark.

Spring yardwork from multi-red pre-6a.m. sunrise to gentle quarter moon. "Fire the Chips" as Jamie would say, but Pat spreads them instead. First grass mowing, but the dandelions are spared for the bees.

Peak blossoms among bulbs and fruit trees. Tulips, cherry, marsh marigold, service berry, etc.

But last Sunday we took a 5 1/2 hour drive to Sturgeon Falls and you'll never guess why. A cheap but sparkly red convertible ---- one of the few I haven't had yet ---- was offered by a guy with too many toys. You can guess the outcome, and the drive home same-day in 2 vehicles.

With all the lockdowns and travel restrictions, it's turned out to be a Therapy Car. The top and paint are fresh but I can work on cosmetics and give the drive train some attention. Appropriate ---- it came from Florida originally. A springtime project? Looking good and the therapy is painless!

It didn't take long to realize why I was so taken with this car. It takes me back to the red-and-white convertible back in 1962. Such a statement in front of our humble home at the time. All I have left of that car is the dealer's nameplate! But they're both Chrysler products, both have a white stripe, both are from the last century.

Coincidence? I don't think so. It's Mother's Day and she always scraped and worked to the bone for her boys. She was the driving force for the first car, and now another? So here's a bouquet for my beloved Mom ---- red with a white top!
