COLOURS 'N CREATURES

The first few days of October bring an onslaught of colours, both the usual and some unexpected. Check this posting for the whole autumn palette, from grey to yellows to Chevy red...

The best "screen time" here is at dawn when the sunrise flirts with the rainbow's range. But the full Harvest Moon showed up with red Mars, that dot to the left.

Out in the yard the creatures are stashing or fattening up, like this raccoon. A pair of male towhees --- where are the girls?? Bees keep looking for pixie dust. All berries and fruit were huge this year ---
these are the biggest butternuts ever.

The circle of seasons keeps turning. The last mow (green). Another bird rescue (chickadee brown/grey). Moving fish (orange/gold) from the shallow summer pond to the deeper winter pond. Stuffed peppers tasting as good as they look.

At the fish ladder in town the river is deeper than usual, fed from recent rains. No struggling salmon visible in the shallows. But they still make the leap to their ancestral home --- wouldn't you?

The loudest Oktoberfest party comes from the leaves, still up on the branches or down like a coat of many colours. No need to go many miles for a leaf peep ---- they're right here!

Most shiny classic cars are already hibernating. But there are still some diehards cruising. Anybody seen the rest of this '57 Chevy??
