CANADIAN CELEBRITIES, EH?

First, a BIG shout-out for Bianca Andreescu, first Canadian ever to win a Grand Slam tennis event --- defeating Serena, no less! She's only 19 and if the Raptors got a parade, shouldn't Bianca?

                                                                                      SHE THE NORTH

Meanwhile autumn keeps nudging out summer. Our apple trees are loaded, the river is gushing, and the woods-walking beckons. Here's a Canadian scene --- hundreds of geese and gulls in a grain field.

After months of delays and no-shows, the crew finally came to excavate behind the garages in Toronto. Like celebrities arriving at the Film Festival! Very quickly the old surface was cut and slabs were bobcatted away. Wouldn't you know, the Garden Girl scooped up dirt and almost got hauled away too...

The noise, dust, and shouting continued as they kissed my asphalt goodbye. As I feared, huge roots emerged, remnants of the rogue maple.

Leveling gravel arrived and was laid down. Within a couple of hours, the area was cleared and sloped for the repaving, supposedly a couple of weeks from now to allow settling. But we had to fling and shovel the roots and dirt ourselves --- resulting in a really bad shoulder injury.

So, back to the woods for forest-bathing to clear the dust and aches. Our life path looks clear!

Lots of movie stars in Toronto these days. But out here in the county Trudeau showed up and pointed to his next appointment. Seems there was a perogie-fest happening with another minor celebrity....
