IT'S SUMMER

It's the August holiday weekend here but it seems like summer has just started for us. After all the apartment cleanup it's time to be out and about. Festivals take up every weekend, whether its Woof Stock or Beach Jazz or Caribbean Carnival (a million attending yesterday?!?!). On the boardwalk, are there more bubbles or geese?

On the way back to Kemble, rain threatens but doesn't fall. The historic "36" is now a different address. And the tomatoes have started to ripen.

Roadtrip! Finally the top pops and there's a different bed every night. That missing rain pours down --- which pool is deeper? Even on Wasaga Beach, the sand can't absorb it all and you can boogie board at the curb...

Penetanguishene and Midland have been freshened up with shore trails and much more attention to local history and native people. French cathedral, lake Queen, European arrivals in the 1600's, grain silos from the 1900's.

Summer movies ---- Mamma Mia! (better than expected, great locales and colour) and Mission Impossible (better than expected except 3D was underutilized, great locales). More empty silos, revered like statues of local heroes. Back at home, the deck carpet unraveled to reveal a dozen wasp nests --- snug as a bug in a rug??

This morning the blog shows an uptick in page views from Russia ---- are they meddling in this, too?? And with the molten sunrise, the heat goes on...
