SNOW-BORED AND SNOW SHOO-ING

Five days after returning from sunny Cuba we are reminded that it's December in Canada! Toronto was clear but cold as we caught up on movies and admired the neighbour's decorations. Then the drive up to Kemble was blizzardy and the walk up the hill steeply white, like gift wrapping for Advent.

Brutal windy -17C cold sucked the remaining warmth out of the lake, steaming like grey-blue tea. Towels and jammies get warmed by the fire (no room for Santa??). The house looks like a greeting card day or night and snowflakes light up like constellations.

This morning it was out to shovel the latest foot of snow and shark-teeth icicles. Not much to do except be amazed that the pond and woods creatures are living out there. Will this bird be staying??
