AGA-WOW, ISLAND-WOW, THEN GOING BLIND

Quite the week with a marathon  road trip to a canyon, an island, and eventually to hitting the bricks. Caught the morning ferry to Manitoulin and the Trans-Canada Highway to Sault Ste. Marie. Got a good scare all week when the windshield wipers would stop-and-start during the off-and-on rain. Loose wire or wet contact?? I'm still seeing (water) spots before my eyes!

Took the Agawa Canyon leaf tour train, after imagining it since I was a kid.  Refurbished train, awesome leaf colours, and challenging hikes to lookouts and waterfalls. A seasonal/special/spectacular/sold-out trip ---- highly recommended but book early. Canadian beauty at its best.

Then into Michigan and a scenic lakeside route to Traverse City. Picturesque home of famous Cherry Festival, Film Festival, Beer Week. But also the grand island home of cousins Karen and Clark. Generous hospitality, catching up on news and views, local hikes and scenes. As a Do-It-Yourselfer, I was impressed by the high quality materials and workmanship of this Arts & Craft-style house. A true legacy for their future.

Too soon, the long drive back to Toronto. This time the lightning and rain was all around us but we didn't have to actually try the wipers! The repairs and upgrades continued immediately at Wineva. Outside, the garage bricks had to be reset to hold the channels for the coming garage doors. Inside, despite the new light fixtures, I was going blind!
