On the Road Again, But Don't Know How Long

WELCOME BACK to all the followers of this blog, and maybe some new readers?! We had originally planned to get back to Australia and New Zealand until the Olympics in January, but stuff happens and we have had to stay closer to home. Pat's very dear brother-in-law Keith was diagnosed with cancer in August and the situation looked bad through September and then into October. Opinions are mixed on how long he will hang in, but after several visits to Peterborough we decided to get away and hope for the best.

So after winterizing and closing up up our beloved home in Kemble, we flew on November 1 to Puerto Vallarta on the Pacific coast of Mexico. Our old friend Heather has offered us a spare room in her large apartment in the old part of town, with the rushing Rio Cuale below our 3rd-floor window. It's amazing that in this very large and cosmopolitan city, there is an oasis of green and birdsong in sight and sound. It's steps to the grocery store and minutes by foot to the cathedral, malecon (shore strolling path), and beaches. All familiar from many previous visits here, but always energizing to be among the locals. By arriving on a Sunday, we mingled with families enjoying their one day of rest.

So we've arrived and set up a base in PV, with side trips planned north, south, and inland. We may have to return to Ontario on short notice, but until then log on for more adventures. Gracias y buena suerte ----- thanks and good luck!
