Most importantly this week we joined in honoring Orange Shirt, the memorial to all those native kids who died at residential schools --- set up by governments and run horrifically by the church. The spirit of truth and reconciliation is getting stronger. We acknowledge it through the lands colonized by our ancestors, and on the land we now live on...
Some things we keep, like my mom's sofa (DIY re-upholstered over the years) but it's a tough carry up to the loft. Other things we donate, like three out of five bikes.
It's October and full-on autumn! Sunrise is bright but dewy. Nothing like raspberry tarts to fend off some chills.
Bittersweet ---- the last big car gathering of the year. Which red convertible is the sharpest on the street? There's low-rise ratrods, full-dressed sedans, 650 cars in all. Cool, eh?
Works of art, long before computer-assisted design. Chrome, fins, hood ornaments that glow in the dark, and colours!
Some car vocabulary: split-window, connie kit, road runner, jacquard interior with 4-on-the-floor.
Favourites of the day? The Girl chose this 1953 Citroen Traction Avant. Swoopy and rare, from France. The Guy had many but settled on this 1983 Fox body Mus----. It's classic but not primitive, and with comfie cloth seats.
The event is called Pumpkinfest, so a shout-out to 24 inch sunflowers, 8-foot long zucchini, and the BIG winner. 1888 pounds of pumpkin ----- how many pies would that make??
