These blog posts often start with a sky picture, usually a beauty sunrise. Hard to ignore because it's a majestic feature looking out the front window at dawn. But this time of year is even more spectacular due to the cleanest air and approaching angle of equinox. Here's some from this week:
Bonus! This week also included a full moon --- the "corn moon" because that's when the native peoples harvested their maize.
In the yard, more evidence of oncoming autumn. Monarchs flit and feed. Mushrooms pop up after a rain --- would you eat this one? A crane fly seems to have a hitchhiker on the window. And the blandly-named yellow garden spider is a big but beautiful yellow spider in the --- you guessed it ---garden.
Sometimes a cloudy sunrise foretells wind and rain. Been there, had that. Close the windows!!
Locally, rivers are running high and adding to the water levels in the Great Lakes. This boater cozies up to a giant freighter in the harbour; does size matter? And how long has it been since you had to stop to let a freight train go by?
This morning's sunrise was a progression of red glow, scarlet cloud bellies, laser spotlight, and finally a molten beam too bright to stare at. Truly, that sky's the limit.
But what's the limit in the barn? Could the next one be a red from Santa Fe or blue Thunder??
