SUMMER SURPRISE

It's the middle of summer and with it all the markers of the season. The sky is blue with clouds as fluffy as cotton candy at the county fair. This year's batch of geese are learning to keep in file whether in the air or on water. And it's encouraging to see even a few monarchs, knowing they'll be off to Mexico before we are!

Two wonders of nature that are seen once a year. The (amputee?) stick bug at the doorway is not a stick. And the hummingbird moth is not a hummingbird! But those wings move too fast to see...

Another ritual of August is classic car shows. Ironically, Main Street is closed so the cars can park instead of cruise. Which ones can you a-Ford? And this guy searched for a truck that matched his shirt.

In those days, V8 motor sizes stood out like highway signs. Take County 300, then over to Interstate 409, and stop at the 2 in the headlights.

It takes a lot to surprise me but Pat pulled off the gobsmack of the year when she tricked me into the lobby of the Wiarton Hospital. She commemorated 5 years since a critical diagnosis right on that spot. We will always be grateful to them, and Pat honored it all with a donation in my name. Notice the tie-in with my favourite car year ---- 64 1/2???
