Surprise! We're in Vancouver, a trip long planned but kept in secret for reasons below...
We were able to watch the new tenants move into the Toronto place, thanks to Jim's webcam across the street. But we were settling into our own place. Bright unit, 10th floor, overlooking beautiful Stanley Park at Coal Harbour. The building has a distinctive vertical blue stripe on the outside walls --- can you pick it out in the clump of condos?? Even the weather has been great, cool and moist while back home there's a late summer heat wave. How can you not love this urban/ocean/mountain/ setting?
But the stars all aligned for another surprise reunion. As in December 2012 (check the blog!) we schemed with our Australian friend Denis to surprise and shock our other long-time Aussie friend Alaia. She had no idea we would all be here again, something she wished for but "not possible". It was plotted and choreographed like a Broadway play with half-truths, set design, secret door, cues, and climax. For example, she thought she was visiting Den in HIS condo --- he had to remember that fib all week.
After all the shrieking, tears, hugs, and revelations, a good time was had by all. The legendary Handing Over Of The Vegemite took place and the Can-Oz cooking duo used up every pot in the place!
Lots more to come in our month here now that the surprise and secrets are revealed. Hundreds of walking trails and miles of shoreline. All kinds of Modern Art (see the plate on the yellow '62 Japanese Figaro) and ways to fly!
