BUNNY, BOATS, B-BALL

Happy Easter! The Bunny is everywhere and knows if you've been bad or good...

A teaser of a warm day and a guy's thoughts go under the hood. The girl makes sure there's a spare. And who's that behind the wheel ready to go??

The great winged migration has started. Put up the feeders and rescue the early birds who are out-of-practice.

First sightings of goldfinches, blue jays, and flocks of ground-feeding juncos. Welcome back!

Meanwhile some squirrels act like birds. And our resident fox patrols daily. Marking the turf this way proves it's a female.

The Bunny loves the countryside. Awaiting daffodils or watching for fish in the pond.

Back at the Quay the boating season is on. Island ferries are on full schedule. Water taxis are available if you're in  hurry. Sailing schools skiff in the wind. And even the evening dinner cruise glides by ---- it's still cold out there!

Nearby, Jurassic Park is full of Raptor playoff fans. This guy came over from the Jays game and loaded up for the event.

Overall it's a special day of rebirth and hope (especially for besieged Ukraine). The Bunny leaves chocolate kisses to those who are worthy. He loves being up the hill but will he go to the big city for his own parade??

FROM QUAY TO KEMBLE

What's up, Dock? Toronto harbour is back in full swing ---no ice, thanks. Sections of dock are returning, specialized rigs go to work, and ducks forage in the winter leftovers.

The 100 ft. dock section for the water taxis was also towed in below us. An awkward dance as it got maneuvered lengthways and sideways into the final tie-up. Let the tourists begin!

But we couldn't hold back any longer and went to real home. Not much snow left so ---- yay ---- drove up the hill. The rituals of turning on the electricity, coaxing the fire, and hoping hoping that the water lines didn't burst over the winter (two minor leaks only!!). Load the fridge, let the crows eat chicken skin, and marvel at how far north the sun sets already. Great to be back in serenity.

Sunrise Day 1 beings the familiar fireball. The croci have spread in purple, white and yellow. And another FIRST up here, even after 19 years! ---- a pair of rare Eastern Flying Squirrels. But what creature was this bone section from??

All the regulars are starting to appear. Phoebe, chickadee, dove, chipmunk, red squirrel, etc.

And the local pair of beautiful red foxes. The larger male always lopes through to scout things out. This smaller female sniffs and nips at what she can get.

Yes, we're for the birds. New feeder made from a vegetable bin. And a fresh water chaser after all those sunflower seeds.

Now for second FIRST, the most magnificent so far. A juvenile Bald Eagle swooped at our window, then alit in the trees. So majestic, so sharp-eyed. Just plain Wow...

So we're in transition from quay to K. Snow this morning but the heartfire burns bright --- bring out the ragtop!!

APRIL FOOLish

Who's more foolish ---- window washers in the cold wind or a raccoon wandering in the daylight?

No fooling! Within a few hours on April 1 the sun rose like a fireball, snow pelted the city, and salt had to be spread on icy walkways.

Foolish or not, the tour boats backed out of their cozy quay and repositioned to summer docking spots. The fire boat played hide and seek with the breakaway dock section. The first sailor of the season wasn't foolish ---- took a lifeboat for the ride.

A walk to the west ends at the iconic Humber River Arch. Canadian Indigenous Peoples met with the Pope this week. Are we on a Great Trail or a Shared Path?

A walk to the east the next day has the Pickering Nuclear Plant (30 miles away) visible. More pleasant is a robin with crocus, or just a familiar path on the shore.

Is April love in the air? Rainbows are inclusive. Love-locks are personal. And the Peace Sign is hopeful for Ukraine and all of us. No fooling?
